Penelope Caywood is the artistic director of the youth theatre program at the University of Utah. Youth Theatre is a comprehensive performing arts training program and provides multiple theatre and music residencies in elementary schools and professional development workshops for classroom teachers. This commitment to arts education has recently been recognized with the Salt Lake City Mayor's Artist Award for 2023. For the last eleven years she has directed and choreographed productions for Salt Lake Acting Company’s Theatre for Young Audience. Caywood has also lectured and presented her work across the state and in California, Florida, and Washington DC. She is the advocacy chair for the Utah Advisory Council of Theatre Teachers and is on the board of the American Alliance for Theatre and Education. Caywood was named the Utah Division of Arts & Museums Performing Arts Fellow for 2022.
